I love my dog. I spoil her. I cuddle her, but I think I rarely appreciate her.
What if I began to shift my focus mentally from the things that we are struggling with to appreciating her for what she can do. Would I be more tolerant of mistakes? Thoughtful about her needs? A better trainer? I think so.
I’m sure it doesn’t mean much to her, other than the kind voice and the petting she will get, but for me, I think it can be very powerful.
So here is my short list, and I’d love to know yours too. . .
- I appreciate about Meisje:
- How easy she is to travel with
- How she entertains herself
- Her independence
- He willingness to learn & try new things
- Her love of contact equipment
- Her speed and athleticism
- Her soft soft ears
- Her beautiful smile
- Her tolerance of Mojo and deference to Marshall (she keeps the household peaceful)
- How quiet she is
- Her sheer joy in meeting new people.
What do you appreciate about your dog?
What i appreciate about Artemis:
1. He always greats me with a smile.
2. After i taught him to give the no lick kisses, he pokes my side to get kisses. (does he understand that they mean I love him?)
3.How he sleeps in amusing positions.
4. His loyalty to follow me anywhere.
5. How much energy he has.
6. When we go into public how i get complimented on his manners. (He is such a good boy even though I know he wants to butt wiggle)
7. How Strong
8.How when i need a hug, he knows i really just need a cuddle and nap.
9.The way i can’t do anything alone.
10. Just all around being an amazing dog!
Thank you for posting this and making me look at what i appreciate! I knew i loved him, but now i see how much he really means to me!
